This Vacation Needs to End

This past week was mine and CJ's Feb. break. It is ending similar to how it began. It began on Feb. 12 with Cj throwing up as I was walking out to the door to meet J at WW. Then at 5:00 a.m. the next morning, it was my turn. Let me add that this was the first time in my teaching career that I had to call in sick and had nothing in my classroom ready! But there was no way I was driving down there to get a classroom ready - the sub just had to figure it out! Hopefully a lesson learned to be a little neater at the end of the day! By Sunday CJ and I were feeling better and we did the one fun thing of the week - we went to the circus. If you ask CJ about it, he will tell you that he didn't have fun - but his face said it all -
On Monday - we took advantage of some warmer temps and CJ rode his big wheel to the park. Then Tuesday - CJ woke up with hives all over his face, back, and tummy:( Poor thing. Took him to the Dr. - but we have no idea what caused the hives.
Wednesday/Thursday - CS is now sick. Headache, fever, chills. UGH!
Today is Friday - the last day of the break and I managed to cut my finger while trying to cut a bagel. It is a little tricky to type with my left hand - and I have 19 report card comments to type this weekend - YAY:(
On the upside - I got to spend a lot of quality time with CJ - we went for walks, played, did some crafts.
I hope we remain illness and injury free during the upcoming April break!

100 th day

Today is the 100th day of school:) 80 more to go. When you are in first grade 100 days is a big deal. Everything we have done today was an activity centered around the number 100. We made necklaces with 100 beads, wrote about 100 things we would like to have and what we would do with 100 dollars (buy a car was my favorite answer), counted to 100 by 1s, 5s, 10s. We will even have a celebration with cupcakes!!! Ahhh...first grade:)

A downside to teaching

Throw up! For the second time in my teaching career a child threw up in my class today. It is not a pleasant experience for anyone involved...particularly the poor child that threw up. Not only do you now feel well, but now your embarrassed too. Luckily, my class was lining up for a special...so we have been out of the room for an hour now. Do you think it's safe to go back????

Life Happens

So long since I last blogged...because as usual I just don't have the time! Sometimes I'm not sure what to blog about and feel that I have to these great, grand thoughts to blog about. But I think my dad (someone I know who reads the blog) just wants to know what's going on. So here is what we have been up to over the past few weeks in a nutshell.

CJ: He has his first concert at school. For weeks he and his Pre-K friends practiced winter songs. CJ was adamant that he would not be participating in this event. We prepared ourselves for the worst! In the end...he did it! I was soooo proud of him! He was all smiles, knew all the songs, and shined! Of course, we think it was because of our favorite babysitter Miss K. She was able to come to the show, and that made CJ's day. I cried - of course - because I was so proud of my little singer!

School is still going well. We are finally getting an OT evaluation - so in a few weeks we will get the results. Kindergarten is around the corner and making us nervous already. I cannot believe my baby is going to be 5 and going to school for a full day! What a transition!

CS: Work is stressful and he needs a vacation. Money is tight, but maybe we will try to go away for a few days this summer. Football is over and the Jets broke his heart - again! CJ and I are very happy to have daddy back on Sundays! CS is the best daddy in the world! Here is a pic of my two boys building a truck from uncle Ritchie.

Me: Two words - busy, stress.

All of us : Mid- winter blahs!!! We need some sun on our faces and some outside time. Hopefully this weekend. February break is coming soon - wish for some warmer days!

Well..that's the highlights as they are...sort of:)
