We had a great time in D.C. this past weekend. CJ was such a good boy in the car - it always takes longer than you expect to get where you are going - but he did well. We checked into the hotel - beautiful hotel and room. We had a suite and it was perfect (more $ than we wanted to spend but a great set up).
Once we got settled, we went downstairs to find a place to eat only to end up back at the hotel at the Cheesecake Factory - have you ever been there???!!! Yummy!! I had a Thai dish - chicken, shrimp, curry, rice - so good. Then of course you have to have cheesecake and CJ wanted just strawberries. A very nice family night out at a restaurant. We haven't been to a restaurant in a year - so this was a big deal for CJ. But I told him to ask the waiter what his name was then he would know him and not have to yell. He did, and he was great. I think it helped that we sat by a big window where he could watch buses and trucks go up and down the busy street.
Friday morning, we had an awesome breakfast in the hotel then headed downstairs to the Metro. We took the Metro to The Mall and went to the Air and Space Museum - a must see! CJ loved this museum! There is so much to see and do there - we even went to the Planetarium. I don't know what a favorite is here - so many things. After lunch we headed to the American History Museum. Transportation was a big favorite here - trains, cars, buses, and motorcycles! So fun!!!
Saturday morning we went to the zoo before we headed home. It was a long walk from the train to the zoo - i don't know how you could do this differently though because parking is limited at the zoo. The zoo was a bit of a bust - most of the animals were not in the habitats due to all of the snow. But we still got to see the pandas.
A wonderful trip - and now we have the travel bug and are planning a summer vacation.
Trying to post pics - but computer is being cranky. I will try again later.
